The last line is especially true. I do, in fact, like surprises, but only if they're good. And since they so often are not, I generally am not very fond of them. That is why I'm a planner. I AM open to venturing off the beaten path every once in a while (heck, I'm heading to Denver and don't have anything planned for Monday!), but I still like to have my itinerary at hand. In case the not so beaten path is full of unpleasant surprises.
