The Four Year Old Green Monster

I can't believe I thought that not having a job would give me more time!

Where the heck does it go?

It's true that my house is clean (yay!). And I've been able to stay on top of the laundry so that it doesn't even feel like a task anymore. Folding and putting away two loads every day is so much easier than doing 12 loads all at once. And my To Do list has been significantly decreased. It feels amazing to finally check things off that were on there for months (like changing the water in the fish tank).

And I've been taking daily showers. And taking Gabi to the park a lot more. And meeting other Stay At Home Mom friends that I usually don't get to see on the weekdays. And putting together three daily meals instead of just one.

But how does 10:00 at night come around so fast?

There's also this little issue with Gabi. Every time I sit down in front of my computer, she plots against me. You'd think being attached to me every other second of the day would be enough, but she hates my computer time so much she cooks up incredibly naughty things to do in retaliation so that I have to leave my post. Otherwise the house might flood, or burn down. Seriously.

Yesterday I left Gabi in Time Out for ten whole minutes (instead of the usual four) just so I could check my email.

My Reader is at 1000+. It won't even register when you have more than 1000 unread posts! It just gives you that plus sign. For all I know it could be 1500. But I'm too scared to hit Mark All As Read. That would be admitting defeat. A lot has gone on in those 1000+ posts, and I don't want to miss out! I really truly miss all of my blog friends.

So today I finally resorted to bribery. A movie and candy for breakfast bought me 98 minutes. And look! A blog post! If I can get this to be a regular occurrence, I think I'll be able to clear my Reader and get reacquainted with the blogging world before we leave for Brasil in two weeks. Two weeks of candy for breakfast shouldn't cause any lasting damage.

There's one thing I don't have to worry about, though. I did manage to find time to pre-order my Double Disc Special Edition Twilight DVD. Having to hang every single thing in Gabi's closet back up again was totally worth it.

  1. Oh goodie, a post. I can relate to most of this except the "how does 10:00 come around so fast?" part. When I am home all day with my monster, 10:00 is like an oasis in a long, shimmering desert.

Also, from the sound of it, you are the most popular blog person on the planet. Wow!

Somedays, I find myself watching the clock for naptime. LOL!

  10. yes, hit the "mark all as read" button, for sure! I can relate to how hard it is during the day, as I have three little ones and am currently watching a fourth. I literally cannot get to my computer until after they are in bed (like now) . . . I just figure I'll have lots of time for myself when they are older and totally ignoring me!!!

  11. Mark as read has been my friend during our house hunting/buying stuff. I hate it but it's that or don't go into my reader at all.

  12. Why not have her 'help' you with something...like...ummmm...dusting? Or maybe folding clothes to keep her busy? Yikes. That drives me insane, lol.
