Market Day

Today we went to the feira (outdoor market). It comes to a street near my in-laws house every Friday.

Gabi, who's feeling much better, wasn't too happy with the way it smelled, but I loved every minute of it. Especially since the sun was hiding behind clouds and the day wasn't nearly as hot as usual.

I'm planning to go next Friday by myself so I can look around without a little girl loudly begging to leave while plugging her nose.

  6. I like the guy selling only bananas, and all that fruit! Especially the mangos! I notice they have white eggs in Brasil, we only have the brown ones here in Paraguay (makes things hard at Easter).

  7. aren't these street markets great? I love going every Monday for my veggies, fruits and chicken...then Thursdays I go to the flower market (also for veggies and fruits) for my floral work!
enjoy the time you have left...I saw on your side bar that it is not that much longer :(

  8. How I miss feiras!!! the 7th pic from top to bottom showed something that I loooooooove, and I haven't had that for years and years, not sure how it would be called in English, in Portuguese (at least where I come from) it's called "rosquinha de polvilho"!

  11. Wonderful! Beautiful pics! I like the one with the eggs for some reason. Do they give you cartons to put them in to take home? Interesting.

  12. Love this post! Makes the farmers markets here in the states (at least the ones I've been to) look lame. I would KILL for a piece of fruit from there right now. Is it like in Europe where the vendor picks the produce for you (and you are not allowed to touch)?

  13. Feiras (and the price of produce) are my favorite thing about Brazil. It is the one thing I will miss the most when we leave.
