Sabotage

So buying cupcakes from Costco the day before you start Atkins is NOT a good idea.

I wanted a last little indulgence before forsaking chocolate for the rest of my life, but why I picked a giant box of cupcakes is beyond me. I obviously wasn't thinking AT ALL.

I've been working with my doctor to find out why I haven't lost any of the weight I gained when pregnant with Gabi (and it was a lot) THREE YEARS AGO, despite exercising regularly and eating healthy. A thyroid problem was just ruled out, so my doctor thinks my metabolism is sluggish due to an autoimmune disorder I have. He suggested I try something totally new, to see if I have a sensitivity to something, like carbs.

I was actually disappointed to not be sick! A nice little thyroid pill would have solved all of my problems. Oh well. On to chicken and greens.

I'm a little wary of the whole Atkins thing, but with my family history, it really is quite possible that my body is not a lover of carbs (unlike my brain). So I'll give it a try and see what happens. And being able to eat real ranch dressing without any guilt? A HUGE selling point.

I'll have to start "for real" tomorrow, though, and just consider the last few days practice. Because with those cupcakes in the house, I'm pretty sure my carb intake has exceeded the daily allotment by about 500%.

Gilberto will be taking the rest of them to work with him. But it'll be a hoot if any of his macho coworkers actually eat any of the cupcakes, since they all have giant read hearts on top! I'm laughing just thinking about it. The longing on their faces, but not daring to grab one in front of the other guys. The ladies in the office might be in for a treat.

  1. Oh, totally with you on this. I cried and cried when my thyroid tests came back negative!

I just started back on a "healthy eating" journey (not to use the word "diet")

I have already taken a two day break to eat a half gallon of mint chip ice cream, :sigh:

Anyhoo...came on to tell you that I rolled with laughter reading your entry to Pioneer Woman's contest, BHAAAH HAAA HAAA.....you win!

Thank you (and I'm sorry, but it's just, well, it's just so damn funny).
