It's Raining, It's Pouring

It's another rainy morning, and I'm in weather heaven.

God must've seen my constant all over body sheen and decided to give me a little mercy. The last two days have been rainy and cool, and we're going on a third. It's still humid, as my hair can attest to, but there's a lovely little breeze that is making it totally bearable.

The rain, besides bringing relief, also means that we've been stuck inside. Though the insides we've been stuck in have varied.

My SIL and her three sisters own an event company. In the family it is simply known as The Buffet. They put on massive parties at their hall, and have a section that is unvelied for kids' parties, which includes two ball pits, a trampoline and a maze that ends in a curly slide.

My MIL often helps prep for the parties, so we've been spending a lot of time at The Buffet, playing in the kids' section. On a rainy day, it's the perfect place to be with a four year old that loves to run and jump. Gabi also gets spoiled by all the old ladies who work in the kitchen with sweets and sodas, so for her, The Buffet is the IT place to be.

We also spent six hours at an Aunt's house yesterday, and Gabi got to play with her cousin's toys all afternoon. Including a huge wooden playhouse that cost over a thousand dollars! Gabi's playhouses have always been made of fabric, so she was in total awe and had a blast.

Today is another day of rain, though it looks like we'll be in the house for most of it. I haven't really had a chance to get out and take pictures, but it's just as well. I tried to upload a few that I've taken from the car as we've gone from one place to another (and they all have a woosh quality to them), and the process keeps timing out. I'll try again later, though I think it might have something to do with the internet speed.

As for the internet connection here, it's iffy. When I AM able to get on, like now, I'm stuck in a little corner of the living room. My BIL hasn't set up the wireless router yet, and the cable cord is super short, so I have to sit on the floor next to the phone. Even though my butt gets sore from the tile, I call it my little corner of paradise.

Since I can't get on the internet all the time, I've been reading in my free time. I just finished The Memorist and it was AWESOME. I don't believe in reincarnation, but the storyline was so good it didn't matter. It was one of the best European adventure mysteries I've ever read, and I'm glad I branched out a bit from my norm. It's also the second book I've read that really makes me want to visit Vienna.

Next, I'll move on to a Jane Green book next for a little no thought involved reading. Hopefully I'll have it read in a few days.

  6. The facilities for kids parties here are indeed pretty awe inspiring. What a lucky girl to have one in the family! Does the pre-school have Carnaval activities? I bet she'll love getting dressed up! The sun FINALLY came out in Minas - and I'll I've done is race to get laundry done and dried! Sometimes it seems like it is either all rain or all sun in Brazil. Kinda like the country itself - doing everything at full throttle!
