We Would Be So Happy Together

I've been a little too busy to post. My Pottery Barn catalog came in the mail yesterday.

I wanted to give it all the attention it deserved.

I love Pottery Barn. I can't afford anything that comes from there, but I love looking through the catalog for decorating inspiration. How great is it that they list the paint color that they use for each room? And those new Style Tips every couple of pages! Awesome.

Despite not being able to afford it, I do own a few things from Pottery Barn. I've found that resistance is futile. But at least I go small.

I bought all of our bedding there, but have been scared to put it on our bed. Because it's so expensive. So that didn't turn out too well. I can't bare the thought of it getting puked or peed on, so it will probably stay in plastic bags until we're done having children and they are old enough to lock out of our bedroom.

I combined a few gift certificates that I've been saving over the years and got a three pieces from the Daily System for a kitchen wall. LOVE it. The key holder and a corkboard sandwich the whiteboard calendar. I don't know what I did before I had this!

I also splurged on a Charging Station. I believe the proper termage is Bedford Smart Recharge Station. The picture shows it in white, but ours is black. It keeps all of our cords nicely tucked away, and all of the cell phones and other crap that ended up in my fruit bowl end up here instead. This was truly worth the money.

Other than that, my house is basically PB free. Our budget keeps it that way.

Which is why I can't believe I'm insane enough to even consider it, but I am in LOVE with the chair on the cover. It's gorgeous!

Just look at it!

I never in a million years would've thought about owning a chair like this one, but I feel it calling to me. It would really snazz things up.

The only problem is that it's $729! And with the $65 bargain shipping, that brings the total to $794. But it's HIGH QUALITY. So that makes it okay, right?

I could pull Gabi out of preschool for a few months to pay for it. Or cancel Netflix for, like, 44 months. Okay, so that wouldn't be a good option. But the preschool thing could work!

Okay, back to reality.

I really do wish it wasn't ridiculous to spend that much on a chair. Well, ridiculous in that we're not loaded. If you have the money, go for it! If I had the money, I'd buy it in a second.

And hope it was more timeless than it looks.

  1. Kids and pets ruin nice furniture - wait another 14 - 20 years for the really good stuff. You have expensive taste!

  2. Pottery Barn Kids is my weakness. I used to live near one and would go in weekly to see what they had in the clearance area. They have the most attractive storage for playrooms. *sigh*

  3. That is a gorgeous chair! I don't get the catalog, but I like the idea of getting it for the decorating ideas.

And I definitely need a charging station. Between our 3 cell phones, 2 laptops and various other devices, my counters look like Radio Shack!

  4. Oh . . . L -

The chair, while very fun, would totally not work for you. I really am trying to make you feel better here!

It is not as timeless as you think - in a few years you would hate it.

Gabi (and your husband) would get handprints, footprints, food droppings, etc on it - it has a white background - they would show.

It looks terribly uncomfortable. Purchasing uncomfortable furniture is a waste of money at ANY price. This is why I cannot face the idea of eventually having to purchase a new couch - mine is the most comfy EVER.

Hope this makes you feel a little bit better about the chair.

  5. I'm like that too! We got a beautiful white embroidered comforter from Crate and Barrel as a wedding present, and I have YET to use it.

Now with two little boys who love to run and jump on my bed with their dirty feet- I don't think it will see the day of light soon.

As you know we are looking for a house now, and I plan on looking at Craig's List for PB furniture to help furnish it when we are finally moved. I see nice stuff on Craig's List from time to time, so keep your eyes open there. :-)

  8. Ah yes, the pottery barn catalog. I pick out all the pieces I will "need" and purchase when we win the lottery.

We did buy a corner storage piece for the basement on a huge sale and love it.

  9. *sigh* Oh how I love PB! They have amazing stuff, but most of the time at a high price. That chair is gorgeous. But I do agree--no Netflix for almost 4 years?! Yikes...I think you made a good choice :)

  10. I saw that chair on Rocks in My Dryer and I nearly passed out from its beauty. But I'm coveting that Daily System kitchen wall even more. I really need to sign up to be on their mailing list.

  11. Oh, I have the charging station - it's the only PB thing I own, and it was a gift. The charging station is wonderful!

  12. I'm loving that chair, perhaps you should get it. It's obviously causing a stir here. I'd have a hard time giving up my Blockbuster for 5 years, geesh - I'd be WAY behind in movies then!

  13. I too admire PB from afar. Have you ever been into a PB Kids??? Oh my gosh...the cutest stuff I've ever seen! But I just can't justify (or afford) paying over $50for a set of sheets. But if I ever won the lottery, that's the first place I'm going!

  16. I love PB as well but don't have anything in my house from there due to the price.

The pattern in the chair reminds me of your blob background...just a little...sort of...
