From Brown To Green

All it took to make my day perfect was three Queen Palms!

Palms that dumped dirt in my shoes and down my shirt and into my mouth while I was trying to load them into the truck. But they have been forgiven, since they look so pretty on my patio.

They are replacing the dead plants that have graced the space since last summer. I'm just not so good with plants or flowers. No matter how hard I try I end up killing them, and then once they're dead and I don't have to water them anymore, I kind of forget they're there. And so they stay.

NOT that I plan for my new palms to die. They're really big so I figure they'll have a stronger hold to life. It'd be nice if I could keep SOMETHING alive and not be the Grim Reaper of Gardening.

I also picked up a hanging basket and a few other potted flowers (or plants? I can't really tell). I just can't help but try again every spring, though the outcome is always the same: brown. At least my patio will look good tomorrow for my birthday BBQ!

Next obsession- finding the perfect pots to put them in. Knowing me, this could take months.

  2. First let me say Happy early birthday as well. Can't be late, rather be early.

Secondly, I heart my garden! Now if it's an indoor living thing in a pot (save the mold in the fridge) I kill it. But if it's outside I'm the Green Goddess, flouncing arround my domain in a gossamer gown making all things bloom in my wake.. a bit of self aggrandizement but hey a girl can dream.

Lastly, HOW THE HECK have I been missing your posts?! I've been thinking.. oh she came back from her big trip and she and Gabbi are just chillin' out in the warm Cali weather and I'll hear from her soon... BUT NOPE, you've been here all along and I've MISSED IT! I'm calling the authorities, this is just NOT RIGHT! So welcome back even though you haven't been gone!!

OH P.S. stop by my blog I'm running a giveaway that I know Gabbi would LOVE.

  3. Happy Birthday!

And we are a lot a like. I can't keep any living plant alive. Just not happening. ((sigh)), and it would take me forever to find a pot too. The plants would die right when I DID find the right pots though. Just how it goes.

  6. You know you could have built your own palm trees (lots and lots of them) for FREE with all of our trimmings last week. Just needed to ask & Richard could have droped them off...

  11. I hiope you had a good birthday. :) I am always impressed with people who have green thumbs and plant things that thrive. I don't have that gift and have been known to kill plants merely by walking by. *sigh*

  16. make sure you keep your receipts (just in case). We had bought and planted two of those in our backyard, and the ONE time it got cold enough in Tucson, one of them didn't hold up so well and it died. We couldn't find our receipt. Anyway, since they are gauranteed and all I thought we'd dig it up and take it back. It didn't get below freezing, just cold. And it should have held up. Anyway, we couldn't find our receipt.Bummer. But those palms are beautiful!
